Director's word

One of the most powerful roles of audiovisual storytelling is to provide perspective: to allow us to imagine universes and draw futures. We wanted a film where LGBTQ+ people could see themselves achieving their goals, with the honesty of knowing that the journey is not linear, but full of ups and downs. Laila was born from this dream, to welcome and give strength to keep moving forward on a journey that never ends.

The Future

Heading to the main LGBTQ+ festivals, Laila is a coming-of-age short drama featuring a young trans woman navigating the turbulence and beauty of early adulthood, first work, relationships, and family bonds. While youth is one of the largest global audiovisual markets, it still lacks stories centered on trans characters, especially narratives that highlight their strength and resilience during this transformative stage of life.
